ABOUT US

The first 10 years of my career were spent in the fish processing industry. After the virtual collapse of this industry in Atlantic Canada, I began a path which led me to work with a number of entrepreneurs who were involved in small business. I have been privileged to work with people who were running companies in funeral industry, property management, food and beverage, accommodations, retail, emergency services, HVAC maintenance, and others.

Once bitten by the bug of running a small business, I had the urge to start my own. In 2000 my wife and I purchased a campground in Nova Scotia which we refurbished and made it a franchise of KOA. (Kampgrounds of America) For the past 10 years we have hired and fired, worked to keep customers happy, done our own books, planned cash flows, borrowed, done upgrades and expansions, and all the other things small business owners need to do to stay alive. Since it was a seasonal business I was fortunate to be able to keep my accounting and tax knowledge up to date by working in private industry and with CRA.

I am now excited about becoming a franchisee of Padgett Business Services.
